1/8/04 - Site Relocation
Well I finally moved the site to a new location. Change all your bookmarks too kmfdm.digitalfission.net. Hopefully this new location will give me the opportunity to offer more exciting features for this web site such as multimedia files. The message board is being reprogrammed to fit the transfer. I decided to get rid of all threads that are before Nov 2003. I am tossing around the idea of creating a new message board that is more organized. It seems that most of the visitors are kind of tired of the old WWWBoard program that I've been using since 1997. Can't say that I blame them.

9/10/03 - DOWN WITH THE RIAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you follow the news lately you'll see that the first wave of RIAA's lawsuits against file swappers has begun. If you are a regular visitor here you are probably aware on my views on this situation. I feel that mp3s on the internet are a great way for an artist to get exposed. It's a tool I try to use for myself and my close friends. I feel it is just like listening to the radio or going out and buying a used CD. Both of which the artist receives nothing out of. Are mp3s marketable? I feel they are. Granted there is always going to be ways to circumvent copy protection, but instead of alienating your consumer with lawsuits... try embracing the technology. The FTC found that the RIAA was guilty of price fixing of CDs during the 1990s. Here they are trying to milk their consumers for finding a more economical way of getting their music. In the 23 years CDs have been on the market they have never seen a price cut. Many other media formats have dropped in price over the years. A perfect example is the change that DVDs have encountered in the past couple years. Movies for download are just as widely available as mp3s. Instead though the MPAA lowered movie prices to where they should be to meet demand, supply, and low manufacturing costs. The result are quite a few happy customers. I'm not trying to swing the reader and computer user to go out and download as many mp3s as they can. If you download and you enjoy... go buy the product. The mp3 files on your computer still don't match the sound of a CD bought from the store. Just join the fight and help find ways to put an end to the madness of the RIAA. Buy more used CDs, go directly through the artists when purchasing your music, fight back! Support the artist, but most importantly don't support the RIAA and what they stand for.

9/9/03 - WWIII press release and the album on the net.

The new album is expected to hit store shelves on 9/23/03. My first thoughts of the new album are mixed. Being conservative when it comes to politics, I was annoyed with the lead title track. Didn't need to throw clips of the President's speech in there. Kinda ruined the song in my opinion. A lot of political overtones in this album. If you aren't a liberal and can get past the lyrics it's a pretty decent album. The track Moron is entertaining musically. The lack of Skold on this album is compensated for by Watts. Reminds me of the days of Nihil. Anyways here is the press release...

KMFDM Explodes with WWIII

Album Released September 23rd through Sanctuary Records

Band Launches North American Tour in October

KMFDM, the ardent guardians of the ‘Ultra Heavy Beat’, have returned with a trend-killing, ravenous, all-out assault called WWIII. Released on September 23rd via Sanctuary Records, the album opens a new chapter in the ever-expansive world of KMFDM. On the surface, the disc may be deemed politically-prophetic (following up 2001’s Attak); however, KMFDM’s dynamic new vision is both uncompromisingly disdainful and rapturously seductive.

Spawned in 1984, KMFDM rapidly evolved year-by-year through intense experimentation and touring; redefining and upgrading themselves with each progressing release. 2003 sees KMFDM aptly dubbed ‘rock with a conscience’; a band that breathes as a cohesive unit, yet is not limited in vision or experience. Fueled by everyday news & events, the band is frequently known for its revolution-styled lyrics and thematically extreme social commentary. Says vocalist/keyboardist/bassist/ringleader Sascha "Kapt’n K" Konietzko explains the band’s position, The fears, the vulnerability and the McCarthyism that slowly creep into the remote corners of one’s brain are all weapons of mass distraction. This is serious and needs to be opposed and eventually debunked. But I have to say that we have no interest in making only intensely serious statements, either. We see art as art, and politics for what it is. KMFDM's lyrics simply reflect the absurdities that we all are bombarded with every day.

Add these intense lyrics to KMFDM’s diverse style, and you get a glimpse of the band’s true charm music that is thought-provoking as well as contusive to dancing and even headbanging! Alongside Konietzko are the bludgeoning multi-guitar crunch of Joolz Hodgson & Steve White, the boisterous percussion work of Andy Selway, the dark, debaucherous vocal emanations of Raymond "Pig" Watts and spitfire hellcat vocals of Lucia Cifarelli, whose fervent vocal style emerges as provocative, evocative, and oft times contemptuous. The tracklisting for WWIII includes:

WWIII
From Here On Out
Blackball
Jihad
Last Things
Pitty The Pious
Stars And Stripes
Bullets, Bombs, Bigotry
Moron
Revenge

8/27/03 - Rolling with the punches
If you are new here and don't follow the activities on the message boards the following will be news to you. After heavy debating and constant mind changing (I'm almost as bad as a woman)... I've decided to just run with the site for the time being. At one point the site was near closure. As you can see it's been a very very long time since an update. The original update was to occur in March. But I never uploaded the news page. The site had a bit of a face lift. Nothing major, but an improvement none the less. Currently I'm going to update the rest of the site, to fit the new design. Also, I might possibly move to a domain. It really depends. I don't follow the band as much as I used to. My musical tastes are always changing. Not that I don't enjoy their music anymore. Just I have a wider variety now. You can also find more information on my feelings of the website in the message boards. Currently it's been tough to keep updating. Work, family, and my music project at http://www.bensoncom.com/chris has been taking a lot of my time up. Leaving obviously very little time for this tiny fan site I've created back in late 1997. Stay tuned for more information and updates.

3/11/03 - Oh my God! An update!?
After nearly 3 years I finally made a long awaited update to the site. I finally forced myself behind my computer and made myself work on it. The design isn't earth shattering, but it is a start for improvement. Bare in mind that I originally designed the site in 1998 and didn't make a layout change ever. Check back soon for more updates including info on the new album "WWIII" which will be due in stores this year.
